Hey all,
Would a non A/C, non Power Steering, 340 4spd have an idle stop solenoid on the Thermoquad Carb? I am restoring my car back to original as possible and everything I have read says that the A/C cars would have it. I have found nothing, however, that says it did not. Based on the purpose of the solenoid, I would think that the car did not come with one on the carb. Your thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated and if anyone has a survivor please let me know. Thanks.

It is possible that it was originally equipped with the solenoid to prevent run on or dieseling when the engine is shut off.

Not sure if you are doing a numbers car, but typically we run our timing far enough advanced that the solenoid is not required.

You can see a picture of the solenoid by using the search feature on this site. Enter these words in the search block: 1973 340 manual carter 6318

I think they had them. My 71, no AC, 4 speed, 340 Duster had one, for a short time, when I bought it used.
