Does anyone know if an earlier Duster bumper will fit on a 74? I hate those big ugly things on the later models.

It can be done. This is a ic of me holding a 70-72 bumper up to a 75 Duster. May need to drill some holes for the bumper mounts though. The 1/4 panels are a little different on the later cars so it looks like there will be a gap there but you could allways weld in a peice to plug the hole. Thats how earlyer Duseter/Demons are. I have been looking at early Duseter and I tell you the fit is not all that good on them eather.

I am going to put it on there. I think it looks way better than that 80 pound thing I took of. Early bumpers and mounts are about 20 pounds so you get to take 60 pounds off of your car too!

Keep us all updated on this. I will be doing the same thing here in the near future.

I am trying to do this also on a 74 and have a 73 rear bumper. I'm thinking I'll have to close the gap up somehow as it looks a little out of place, will be working it on it soon. Gap on top looks good, but from the side is too much.

I have a glass bumper so I was thinking I will just add some glass to the end to "close the gap".

Do the 'glass bumpers use the same brackets as the steel bumpers? I've seen what you're talking about burnt, with the earlier cars having the same gap, I do want to close it up a bit, look tighter ya know?

I pulled my '74 apart and removed most of the weight from the inner structure. I shaved the bumper bolts and painted it. I decided to retain the EAUs, it is still a little heavier than the earlier style but not nearly as bad as it was.

Yes they do. All you need to do is drill the holes and it will bolt up to the stock mounts just like the origanals do. You could make your own mounts too if you wanted to take a little more weight off. Or just swiss cheese the stockers.
