Long story short...it's broke and I need a replacement. The Yukon gear part number is YSPSA002 or US bearing #33527. I've been looking for over a week and this part is out of stock or backordered everywhere.
The specs say it is for a 7.25/8.25, now I have a 7 1/4 under a running car this is in line for some modifications later in the year. If this part will work I'm willing to take it apart and use it. Looking at the 7 1/4 though is looks from the outside it won't as the axel tubes are 2 9/16" as opposed to 3 1/8" on the 8.25. My other option is to go to the Pic and Pull and get it out of a Jeep, Durango, Dakota or Ram that option though is not really appealing as who wants to be laying in greasy, wet dirt in some junkyard. The only upside to that is I might be able to find a rear disc brake setup for my 70 Duster where this malfunction is currently happening.
Thanks

Anyone know anything about this or better yet have one laying around they could sell and ship priority mail on my dime?
Thanks

I'm rethinking, the whole junkyard thing as I probably need to find something pre 96 as the carrier is same, but the bearing are bigger. It just came to me as this all happened when I bought a used Sure Grip that had the bigger bearings which I had to change to make it fit. I actually did pick up an adjuster off eBay that was too big even though the seller said it would work...he was correct, but for a later model.
I'll wait for some input on the 7.25 idea, then open it up tomorrow to see.
Thanks

dodge part number for 84 diplomat with 8.25 rear axle is 3507876ab. shows still avail from mother mopar. does not say big or little bearing though.

The way to find a used part is to start a Parts Wanted thread. This thread isn't one.

That's the part I ordered...was for big bearing.

Just to be clear I'm not looking here for a used part. I'm looking for a part number or a source for the correct part.

I will call you out on that one!

That was an after thought.
I will edit that out.

I tried that but seem to be hitting a dead end.

I actually ordered 68348590AA which is correct for the larger bearing. I had ordered 3507876AB from an online vendor who took my order, but later refunded my money as the part was not available/backordered. I checked that number with my local Chrysler parts department and they told me the same thing as well.
A sad note though before going to the Chrysler dealership. I also went to my Dodge/Hyundai dealership where I occasionally have my Challenger serviced. It is currently being enlarged/remodeled, which I thought was a good thing only to find out they are now exclusively a Hyundai dealer

I was not finding it as the correct number is 03507882 which is superceded by 3507876AB
I ordered it from another online vendor with expected delivery early next week... we'll see how that goes.
Thanks for the help.

You ain't lookin real hard. Amazon. In stock.
Bearing Adjuster
Actually I saw that over the Christmas holiday and the expected delivery
because of the holiday was about 10 days out. I didn't want to wait, but if I actually bought it then I would be probably be driving the car. Anyhow I was like a dog without a bone trying to find it somewhere other than Amazon mostly because of the time factor and the part it self was $15/18 with shipping being about $30 of the selling price, which for some reason is never a problem for me, but for some reason this time it was. It's really hard to believe that a fairly common part that should be available at Napa, Advance or AutoZone is currently unavailable pretty much everywhere and will be for sometime.

Common part? I have never seen one broken or needed.

Another order cancelled and a refund as part is not available.
It's up to Amazon now

This is the part number history for the adjuster.
1972 was the first year the Chrysler parts catalog listed a 8 1/4 differential for the Valiant, Dart and Duster. Part number for the 72 model year was 3507882. In 1973 the number was superseded to 3507876,which continued thru 2004. In 2005 the number superseded to 3507876AB. It was last used in some 2010 trucks and evidently was cancelled in the past few years. They would be easy to find in junk yards, but then you have to deal with the dirty greasy environment. Just spotted this on eBay: 1984-2010 CHRYSLER DODGE MOPAR JEEP DIFFERENTIAL BEARING ADJUSTERS SET OF 2 NOS | eBay
He has the years listed incorrectly. It should have been listed for 1972 thru 2010.

Thank you, I did find that information and used it to order the part several times only to have it cancelled and my money refunded as it was out of stock. I did order the part from Amazon this morning and just now the ones that you pointed out on eBay. If they work out I'll just return the other to Amazon and as a bonus for half the price I'll have an extra for backup.
We have been getting some rain and my back has been acting up so the junkyard is a last resort.
Thanks again

I have a Big bolt pattern 7 1/4 rear apart. And might have a small bolt pattern 7 1/4 adjuster on the shelf. Measure the diameter & the size of the hex of your adjuster, and I can measure mine. At least that way we can see if the 7 1/4 part will work.

I believe the hex and the diameter are the same for both 7.25 and 8.25 and the hex for later 8.25 where in some cases the diameter is larger depending on bearing size and application. I'm assuming this, as the tool I made when I rebuilt my 2001 Dodge Ram diff worked on the larger size bearing adjuster and recently the small adjuster as well.
I made the tool with a 40" long 1/2 pipe nipple, a 1/2 x 1 1/4 pipe bushing and some roll pins to hold it all together. I trimmed the one end to fit flush and extended a roll pin just enough to clear the axel bearing and just long enough to keep it from going into far. I set the other end up the same way so I could turn it easily with a big aCrescent wrench, pipe wrench or my big ChannelLock pliers which is actually much easier than the wrenches. I actually have a big socket that fits when it comes time torque it down at the end.

I can confirm the Large Bolt Pattern 7 1/4 adjuster is the same as the one in the pictures. I had one adjuster on the shelf, that I think (but not positive, wasn't marked) is for the small bolt pattern 7 1/4, and that is the same, also.

7 1/4 and 8 1/4 adjusters are the same for passenger cars from 1972 thru 1989.
