8.25" Sure-Grip rear with 3.21 gears. Came out of a '77 Aspen R/T that was wrecked in the early '80's and has been sitting since then. I've been looking for an R/T project car to put it in, but haven't had much luck. Therefore, it's time for it to go.

It'll need a rebuild, obviously, but all of the internals are there and it's never been apart. Unfortunately, the front nose of it sat in the dirt for most of that time, causing the pinion yoke to corrode. The back cover was on while it was in storage.

I'm located in southern Illinois. 2 hours straight East of St. Louis and 2 hours straight West of Indianapolis.

$375 OBO for the complete axle, you pick it up.
$350 OBO for the ring/pinion/Sure-Grip assembly, plus shipping.

Figure $25 to $50 for shipping. Open to offers on the rear, or, if you have a solid Aspen R/T you're looking to part with, I'd be interested in purchasing and using this rear in it.

I would also be interested in using this as a partial trade towards a C-body project. PM with offers.

Spring pad width is different for the F-body cars. I think they are 47 inches and A-bodies are 43

    PM replied.

I took the Sure-Grip/ring and pinion out of the housing if anyone wants to buy them without the housing. Just use your existing A-body housing.

How about $350 shipped for those pieces?

I believe that is correct, but I am not an 8.25" expert. The think the different carrier was somewhere around 2.71?

    thank you

I need to do a little more research because when i look these up it seems as if some of the newer ones have a different spline count. Im not sure what that means or if it even matters but the 8.25 in my 70 swinger came out of a 74 swinger.

I am interested but need to make sure it will work and it also seems as if the pinion is in rough shape on the outside and might need replacing ??

This is the 27 spline unit, which should be the same as your '74 rear.

The pinion seems to be fine. Threads are even ok. The nut might need replaced, but you can use your current pinion nut/yolk.

Not looking to make this a discussion, but 8.25 rear axles are all 27 spline until '96, then they went to 29 spline. As far as I can see, the 2:45 gear ratio carrier is different from all the rest. I just looked into this because I'm doing an 8.25 rear for my '73 Duster.
