Ok, so what kind of nightmare am I in for? I'm wanting to swap out the 2.73 gears in the rear for some 3.91s - should I just take the whole car down to a shop and have them do it, or can I do it myself?

If you have the tools it's not hard but you have to have some special tools to do it. I haven't done a 8-3/4 yet so I can't say for sure if you can set the pinion depth with a dial indicator or you may need a special tool. Those tools can run quite a few bucks some times. Hope that helps.
