Ok guys this is what I have.

Unfortunately it doesnt have the gear tag anymore but it supposedly has 323s.
It came from a reliable guy so Ill believe that part.
Can anyone ID this for me?
here is how the side of the case looks.

There is a big 9

Dunno' if that was the best way to put that but it as close to a representation as pos. Shows the relation of the #s that way.
 
Definatly a 489 case but on the ratio count the teeth on the ring and then count the teeth on the pinion gear and divide one into the other.
 
thx Ill go ahead and do that when I get a sec. But if I have it open I may as well just check the ring gear yeah? Thats where I've always seen em before. For now I dont wanna crack open the case, have no room or organiztion in the garage to be taking more stuff apart! lol Plus Im going to have to drain that thing outside the garage or the wife will ban me from the house for the smell of gear oil permiating the door to the house! lmao
 
If your looking for the ratio....jack-up the rear off the ground and mark a tire at 12:00. Put a mark on your driveshaft and rotate the tire once...at the same time count how many time your driveshaft turns. It will put you in the ball park

IE 1 complete turn of tire may = 3 1/4 complete turns driveshaft = 3:23
 
You have the 489 carrier which is stronger than the 742. :headbang:
 
very cool guys thx. Ya know its funny I bought such a desireable yet questionable item with out knowing barely anything about it.
Whats cool is its turning out to be a really good deal! (stronger one of the 2)

Just put the transgo kit in the new trans last night! gonna change it all out in about 3 weeks!

Changing out:
318 heads that are on my 360, to the freshly rebuilt J heads.
Trans with tf2 kit
new converter
2 1/4 duals w/ cherry bombs, to 2 1/2" w/ Xpipe and flowmasters.
Newer better condition headers.


Ohhhhhhh man Im goin nutz!! cant wait to drive it again!

Between the heads and the exhaust you show see some excellent gains !!!!!
 
ya know what is cool about the 318 heads! that little motor is damn torquey!

I guess Ill be in the market for a new intake considering mine is for a 318. HMMMMMMM gonna be hard pressed to get the other half to let me spend more $$$$ after I picked that rear up! lol ahhh she'll get over it! Ill tell her to go buy some new clothes! hahah
