In case you are new to Chryslers, there were actually 3 different cases - the 741, 742 and 489 that came with not a posi but a Sure Grip - the correct Chrysler terminology. The Sure Grips were either the clutch or cone style. Good luck on your search!

Correct me if I'm wrong but any suregrip can go into any of the three housings. Unless you get a pre 64 unit.
 
I believe you are correct. If I'm wrong, someone is sure to let us know!
 
You can even use the '57-'64 sure-grip in the later axles. They will swap right over. You can also use the open differentials of this period as long as you use green bearings on your axles. If you don't have green bearings, you would need to swap the center pin with a later version to use the open gear sets.
