Context: swapped out my 7.25” rear for an Exploder 8.8 rear. Previously I had a slant 6 904 transmission in and a 7260 yoke

Two things. The flange from the 8.8 is in need of some yoke or converter. I have no idea if my driveshaft will even work but wont know the shaft length needed (to order) til I drop the engine/trans back in and find the distance to the flange.

Do I need an adapter yoke? Should I order that first and then measure for driveshaft length?

Anyone have recommendations?

What type attachment does the 8.8 have? Is it the round flange? A picture is worth a thousand words here.

+1 to what RRR said, it's all about the attachment.

if it's a standard yoke you'll likely get off with just a combo u-joint, although you may need a new weld yoke-- it's kinda dependent on the power you're gonna be making and the shop.

with the flange yoke, you'll need the corresponding flange yoke in the shaft and there you'll likely need a new weld yoke to match-- most shops don't like to do combo joints in that type of assembly.

at the end of the day, it's down to who's building the unit.

no matter how that shakes out, you can't measure for the shaft till everything is in place. and, again, you'll need to talk to who's building it how they want it measured.

8.8's have a flange on them. There are at least 2 sizes that I know of. Spicer and other brands sell them.

And you can buy conversions joints. On my TKO in the front I have a 1330 to what ever the Big Mopar one is. I forget the number.
