To the best of my ability, I have found out some info of interest to you.
i hope it is correct. Comments Welcome
Bone stock , unmolested short block
360 Magnum
hughes 1110
Spring kit

The rate of permissible lift before possible valve collisions was not advertised. Upon full short block assembly, the clearance between the top of the valve guide to the retainer was about 20 thou. Which won't work for me . Others have said no problem with cams around .500 ish lift.

So, Hughes does have a kit that will definitely settle the issue.
Hughes Engines 1110SVK kit,
Mav .550,
lift retainers clearance up to .540 lift.

I’m running that Hughes kit.
Not sure it allows up to .540, but it’s up there close to that.
Lots of clearance with .512 here.

Thank you, I wasn't going to do Anything, until I hard core verified the info.

Yes, an "advertised" number is just that lol

Happy to know I'm only looking at a spring change.

I used the 1110 springs, the better clearance retainers and positive valve stem seals on a pair of New Zealand cast EQ heads with stainless valves.
Everything went well.

Positive vale seals, do you remember which ones, no machining right ?

What's you cam lift ?

No machining needed for the seals, they went on firmly basically by hand but I did tap them down lightly to make sure they seated.
They are the blue ones with the little spring rings.

The stem locks stick down below the retainers a little, just so you know.

.512 lift
