87 318/727 swap ?

howdy all, i have an 87 dodge 2 wheel pickup, with a 318/727, and i want to swap it into my 66 dart, slant/904, someone told me that the tailshafts on the later 727's were all the same lenth even in the trucks, and would work without a problem, but i always thought they were different, depending on the car, a,b,c body, or truck, can anyone help me out, thanks, [email protected]

If the 727 is a slip yoke style trans it will be the same as the car one (4" longer than a 904). You will most likely have to massage your tunnel to get a 727 in your early "A", I had too.
