904 auto trans. hard shift from 2nd to down 1st

I want to say Thanks first of all, for any replys on this thread, I have a 1975 Plymouth scamp /6 225, 69000 miles, auto 904 trans. Drives good, but the last 2000 or so miles when slowing down and the trans shifts from 2nd to 1st 80% of the time it is a hard clunk going into 1st. I have changed the trans fluid and Pan filter, but no change at all, Would anybody have an idea what it would be causing that to happen??

also would anyone know of a good auto shop that I could go to in The Bel air Maryland area!!!

You might be able to adjust some of it with your kick down linkage.
