Recently I had to drop my steering column to remove the instrument cluster from my 72 scamp with a slant six and 904 auto. To get the clearance needed I removed the three bolts holding the column up to the dash, and the bolts holding the flange to the firewall and three or four other bolts holding the column to the flange. Re-installing was a little clumsy but seemed to work out but now it the shifter is binding and doesn't move through the full range of motion. I have to force it into park and the indicator shows it is in 2nd when its in drive. In addition i have developed a leak at the shift shaft seal so I assume i screwed something up. I've take it apart again and re-installed. but its no better. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Is there an order of operations for what bolts go in first?

Thanks

you are going to have to remove the linkage from the column down below ..and reset everything..same thing happened to me on my duster...

bummer... oh well got to pull it all out anyway to get the speedo back in and to fix the leaking windshield.
