904 hardened pump gears

What is the advantage of using these hardened aftermarket pump gears that many vendors sell? What would the benefits be in a drag race transmission?

not so much the hardness, but a more precise gear which fits the housing more precisely. Good replacement for ancient stock pieces.

Yep. 904 pumps are not the beefiest. Hardened parts will take more abuse
