You didn't state six or V-8, they have different cases. Any cable operated transmission should work.
You just need the correct cables for you application. 66 went to a lever operated trans. with slip yoke
drive line.

Possibly. The only option is a 1965 cable operated 904. That said, you'd need the driveshaft from the 65 as well because the 1964 would still have the flange style driveshaft and the 65 and newer are slip yoke style driveshafts.
Do you have a cable shift tranny now?
