I know the car that I'm building right now is a numbers matching car it is a 69 barracuda convertible 318 car 904 council shifted car. It is in pieces right the motor is with the engine builder I had the 904 rebuilt where would I look on the 904 to know for sure that the trans is the one that came with the car when it was new. Same with the motor where would you look just to find numbers to tell that both the motor and the trans came with car when new. The car had sat outside in the IL weather for over 20 years a restoration basically was started but never finished so needless to say a few important things were missing a lot of the trim, the fender tag. The motor was froze up but I was able to get it unfroze and started so when I pulled the motor out the oil filter had the same mileage as the odometer which read 66,000. This is my second barracuda I've worked on my first one should have been cut up for parts but I saved it this one you can tell by the wire harness which was totally unmolested and all in tack so I truly believe the mileage is correct. I did find the build sheet while taking the car apart the problem was the area that has all the important information was missing (eaten by mice) so can't get a true fender tag sad. Sorry for the rant so back to the original question where do you look to find the matching numbers between the trans and the motor???
Thanks in advance
