I am starting a build on a 66 Dart. Going to run a 360 stroked to 408. Planning on running a solid roller cam that will be just slightly streetable but good for drag racing( 530-550 lift?). I am planning on using a 904 trans because of header fitment and also I am told they can be beefed up to handle 500 HP with no issues. If this is true then I would like to know what internal changes need to be made to make this trans hold up. Also I have heard that I can use a lower 1st gear instead of the stock 1st gear. I am waiting for a quote from a local rebuilder but want to know what I should hear from him about the modifications he will have to do in order to make it hold up. Also Since I am going to start out with a 3:91 rear I thought a 3500 Stall converter? Tires will be around 28" tall.
Thanks in advance for any help. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and information.
