904 Transmissions Drying Up

-
Thanks, but I really don't want to get involved in rebuilding it myself. Never did it before. And I want to make it once and done! The trans is the cars weak point, everything else has been addressed.

You had to learn to wipe your ***. Now I bet you're a pro.

Wow, there has to be someone in your area that does them. As always, "too bad you're not closer".

You'd be surprised. Three speed automatics are getting more and more scarce everyday.

NOPE. My ex-employer ran a highly modified 904 behind a Steve Schmidt engine. Ran low 7's consistantly and once held the record in BA/A. Anything is possible.

Bucky Hess Also ran one behind his record setting Hemi Barracuda. I think that car also went 7s.

Listen to Transman, he/she know what they're talking about ;)

Sorry @transman , I couldn't resist.
You're absolutely right though.
Not an Issue, Mr/Mrs Moparofficial all in good humour. His race car(s) were test mules for the products the company made for the high performance and diesel industry. He found that some of the stuff that was available wasn't made of good material so he proceeded to make stuff. He was in the beginning of his work career a transmission builder, and knew what was failing in high horsepower applications. If you want to see what is available in the line of transmission hard parts the company makes the website is www.tcsproducts.com. Many of their products are private labeled and can be purchased from a wide variety of transmission specialist outlets.

think of it this way the govt in the USA anyway doesn't want these cars around much longer. Yeah they'll let us play around for a while yet but really what do we have? chap knock off parts made overseas, and or you rebuild original parts if you have the means. OR you hoard parts. This is where we are at ,where its going. best to hope for in the future is they let you retrofit an electric motor into your A body so you can cruise it at car show weekends etc.
