5.2 mag in my '64 Barracuda, with a 955 oil pan. I'm trying to get a dipstick/tube configured for it, pretty much by measuring the combinations on my other cars. Stick length should be close (enough), but with 5 qts poured in, and nothing in the filter, it's showing at the low mark on the stick. I just want to make sure that this pan is designed to hold 5 quarts, before I re-mark the stick, or lop a bit off the tube.
Thanks, Karlin.

I'm not familiar with the Magnum pans but if they are like the LA it's 4 in the pan and one in the filter.

If you haven't got the car running yet, wait until you get it started and run for a while, then shut it off and let it sit 30 minutes or so. Pull the dip stick out and wipe it off....then stick it back in. Pull it back out, and where the high mark for the oil is on the stick, that is your normal. Mark it with a scratch awl or nick it with a hacksaw blade so you have a full mark going forward.

Four in the pan, one in the filter.

It's an LA pan, I think early 70's something. It's the one that was suggested for doing the Mangum swap into the '64. I wanna say that's how much my other 2 360 pans hold, but I'm not sure what style/number they are. Thanks Man.

The car's still a ways from running, but I will be priming it soon. Hopefully tomorrow. So I will have both levels, filter/engine full, and not.

So with nothing in the filter or laying up in the engine, I'm thinking it should register a bit (1/4"-3/8"?) above the full mark. And this is a shorty filter, like the old Fram PH8A vs. the PH43.

Yeah just a hair over full. That fifth quart spreads out over a lot of real estate in the pan.
