99 paint code '69 dart...

Anyone ever seen one or heard of one and if so, what color was it?

Reason I ask is that I have been told of a supposed '69 swinger 340 that has a 99 paint code and was a shade of orange but not hemi orange V2. Is supposed to be a near basket case but restorable.

I have heard of orange a-body plymouths (67-69) that were almost a vitamin c color but never a dart??? Any help or input will be greatly appreciated.

Check "999" under the '69 Dodge in the 1964 - 1972 Dodge/Plymouth paint chips. It is bright orange.

Just found that too, thanks. So the guy might be right then, this is interesting. I wonder if legit how many could have been painted like that and if there is any records to show it. This would be a neat one to add to my registry and/or to my garage

If you notice that the "999" code could be three different colors. So there would be know way of knowing which one was which in the factory records just "999"

*999 is a "special" paint code that I believe was used on all Mopars of that era, starting about 1968 . It could denote just about any color or color combination for a particular year. To get the paint code you needed the Special Order (SO) number and the selling dealer name plus the VIN.

Dodge shows 3 different paint *999 paint codes for 1969. 66436 - Orange; 811570 - Bahama Yellow; and 44032 - Rallye Green. These are all PPG / Ditzler codes. There were 2 other orange codes in addition to the *999 Orange. V2 - Hemi Orange, and K2 - Go mango. The *999 special 66436 was a more "Pure orange" than the other two.

Ahhh true. I wonder if there was any restrictions on the ordering a 999 code or if mopar would do it for anyone that paid the $$$. I have looked through copies of '69 dealer option info but can't seem to find anything that shows stipulations for ordering or cost either.

The guy said the shade of orange inside the trunk area is almost a construction orange color or a chevy color. This car has got me excited if you can't tell.

The 999 paintcode started in 1965. It was called "special order".
