It is a only a 3spd, if you are drag racing you would want a four speed. It should handle the power as long as it has the large output shaft (same slip yolk size as the 727 automatic). The internals are the same strength as the a833 4spd (the synchro rings are even interchangeable!)

If you do decide to get rid of it, let me know, I use one in my circle track car (I only need two gears!)
