A-999 Swap and Information

So not all of the A999 have a power wire on it to switch the OD on/off? The one that is in my car had a cast date of 1988 on the VB so I'm guessing dodge vans since 87/88 was the last year for RWD cars.

999 is not an OD trans, it's a 1:1 high gear. Are you referring to the lock up?

Also, lockup is hydraulically controlled by road speed/load, there is no switch.
 
Mine has a switch and a solenoid on the valve body and is a A999. The pics are in this thread.
 
I located another A999 in a 85 dodge van at the junk yard today. This one doesn't have a solenoid for OD

It wouldn't, the A999 was not an overdrive transmission. Lockup, yes but not overdrive.

OD did not come along untii the A500.
