im trying to see what would be a good way to do this. I found out from my kids two streets over there a house that’s been abandoned for years. Behind it, is a barn. And past that.... about 40 vehicles including a Volkswagen bus with the pop out front windows! Maybe 20 vw bug shells, tons of parts. A few British cars, and a few karman Gia shells, Porsche.

Live in Tennessee. It’s on private property obviously. Look up local records? Find the owner? There’s tons of parts that could save other vws and obviously the bus. That alone is worth a lot. What steps would need to be taken so I could possibly find them a home?

Oh....and bring home myself a 62 s22 Mercury Comet special? Sorry, I thought I buried the ford guy in me but...it’s all there. 100% complet. Just sitting for years.... tree has grown around the hood and I can’t open it but it’s all there.

Permission from the owner 1st.

It seems as if you missed that step.........

Take the address down to the local secretary of state office and apply for an abandoned property title

The neighbor across from it said he hasn’t seen anyone there in years. He has apparently tried to contact them as he himself has a VW bug he is restoring but can’t find any information at all. He’s retired Air Force and came by the house. Said he figured I was a muscle car guy and didn’t like the old VWs....he was wrong. Love old stuff! He has mowed the yard many times and didn’t know those cars were back there as it’s really thick and wooded. My kids were sledding today and walked upon this stuff.

You can check the county tax records and see who owns the property. If there are back taxes due, sometimes you can get ownership of the property by paying them.

Didn’t think about that. There’s two houses here actually on a few doors down and that one. Lol!!! Two for one deal :)

Somebody is paying taxes on the property.
You can get on line an look an see if the taxes are paid, with some minor information.

But I would shoot first and ask questions later if you were on my property, I had an antique farm tractor stolen out of my barn.
Kids sled riding ok, old fart nosing in something I own, watch out.

Footsteps outside, we take notice.

Sound of a hood latch being popped, the noise maker with the single black eye comes out of hiding......

I bought an abandoned house at tax sale about 15 years ago. Had a 51 Plymouth, 62 Chev 2 Dr sedan, 76 Mustang ll Cobra, and a 58 Chev Shortbed fleetside. Got more for the cars then I paid for the property.

There was an abandoned house just a few miles from where I grew up.

For years, sticking out of the shed next to it, was the *** end of a Superbird.

Finally, the 'Bird was gone and the shed and house were torn down.

Find out if any one is paying the taxes. I lived in a 'hood with city sized lots growing up. House on Atlantic, owners died, no kids. Everything just kinda fell thru the cracks. Place was sold as is at auction. Back yard hadn't been maintained in many years. Imagine the guys shock when he found a complete, numbers matching 65 Big Block Vette in the back yard, side pipes, knock off wheels hid in the shoulder high weeds. Only had about 5k miles on it...
