I'm fixing to go check out a '72 duster here in the next couple of days. It's a 318 with a 2 barrel and I'd like to swap it out for a 4 barrel. Can I use the throttle cable that's already there? I believe I read something about using a adapter when using a edelbrock carburetor, which is most likely what I'd be using.

same cable. the adapter is at the carburetor linkage/arm.

you'll need to modify & adjust your 2bbl kick down for the 4bbl to work correctly. you may also need to tweak the bracket to get the accelerator cable to line up properly.

before you ask: how do this? *whispers* use the search function, it's been covered before

...and actually get the car, first. THEN decide what you need to do to it.

I already know that I want to convert it to a 4 barrel. Professor
Look in the fuel and air forums. THe first thread (a sticky) is a 2-4 barrel conversion thread. All the part number are in that thread.

Just make sure it moves freely. I bought a new cable after the old one broke a wire. Installed it and checked it. The “bell” on the cable end came back and because it was slightly out of plane with the sheath, it wedged itself and stuck wide open. I just took a tubing cutter and cut the “bell” shorter. This was with two return springs.
