Aftermarket speedometer with 46rh ?

I just picked up a 1990 46rh (a518) and it had an sensor on the speedo pinion output. That got me wondering if one could use an aftermarket speedo and wire it directly to that sensor if needed ?
Just curious…

I would check with the aftermarket speedo if it were compatible.

I am using the Dakota Digital system in my 55 Dart. It uses my stock 65 cable which screws directly like stock to the transmission. It has the electronic gizmo to plug into the DD electronics at the other end. Pretty simple
