Vintage Mopar Gold Mine
Financial and medical circumstances force me to sell a treasure trove of hardcore MOPAR racing parts, with great history and provenance. This is an unparalleled opportunity for a sincere vintage racer, collector, or enthusiast to acquire a well developed small-block (LA) engine program, with transmissions, clutches, and more. It took me decades to find all this stuff, and develop it to a modern level of function, with truly vintage parts
• Primary engine – 348 c.i. W-2 heads, EA-PRO simulation = 480 hp @5500 Ex-Jerry Driscoll NASCAR North, Dick Mann ported W-2’s, Victor W-2 intake, 4-bolt main w/ splayed caps, Milodon studs (heads also). Dry sump (4-stage Weaver/ JR mfg, custom drive, modified block, scavenge lines included) 10.8/1 compression, custom JE pistons, Eagle rods, CSC center counterweighted forged crank. Edelbrock timing set, Hughes guide/tensioner. Engle cam to Hughes spec, 1.65 roller tip rockers (Norris?), 3/8 pushrods, Hughes springs. Runs great on 40% race gas/pump premium. Many parts originally from Ed Hamburger (period catalog included), modern- day Mopar science by Dave Hughes Engines, who rebuilt and flow tested the heads, balanced rotating assembly – flow documented. Estimate piston, cam change to produce 550+ hp.
• Second engine – 346 c.i., Torker intake, port-matched “J” heads, pocket- ported multi-angle valve job, back-cut valves. Speed-Pro forged stock 10.5/1 pistons, modified oil system, Melling pump, deep road-race pan, Cam Techniques solid cam, adjustable (273) valve train, rebuilt rods w/ARP bolts, needs crank (have cores), my ‘88/’89 championship engine, currently disassembled
• Spare block, etc. – Stock 340, believe to be Std. bore, with main caps, extra set stock rods, extra set adjustable rockers, 2 stock intakes, leftovers from rebuilds.
• Distributors w/ wire sets – Accell ball-bearing dual-point, MSD PowerTowers & heli-core wires. Mallory “flat-top” YC style, Accell solid-core wires, incl. Mallory Powermaster coil
• Headers – custom made, from “Headers by Ed” parts and design, 1 set for each engine, flange adapters not needed for W-2 (but set included), std. 340 set aluminum spray coated, set of 2 ½” “ turbo” auto-x mufflers incl.
• Clutch assemblies - 10000 RPM Speed (#1Lite!) 5.5” triple disc, have 3 carbon, 2 steel floaters, 3 ea. Composition and Kevlar discs, CNC machined steel flywheel, very low inertia, incl. special t/o bearing Schiefer aluminum flywheel, refaced with al. bronze, (many times) as is Schiefer lw. pressure plate. B&B style, set up with 2700# spring pressure by drag clutch guru John’s Clutch.
• Lakewood bellhousing & block plate, slave cylinder, fork.
• Transmissions – A-833 “Hemi”, 1 3/16 x 18 spline. Primary trans is stock, updated to late style synchros, steel 1-2 fork, pin style interlock, short (A-body) tailshaft, has adapter to mount shifter in B-body location, speedo hole plugged. Liberty Gear input shaft, new bearing kit & gaskets only have 3 seasons or so.
• Second trans is ex-Charlie Hale, true factory “crash box” drag race transmission, formerly used in SS & M/P ‘Cuda. A real secret weapon, this will upshift faster than your hand can move, with virtually no resistance! Solid hubs, all machining on sliders & engagement dogs done before heat treat, synchro cones never ground. Mousetrap interlock. Has B-body (long) main shaft & tailhousing. Includes repairable short main shaft, repairable standard input shaft, spare 2nd gear, new bearing kit – currently disassembled. Marginally streetable, for experienced non-synchro (i.e. truck) drivers.

• Hillclimb car – available with package, or if package sells. NEHA # 151, tube chassis, bodied as “PT Cruiser” . Was crashed, but parts to fix, including new front clip (s) (Lindblad design) (1 welded, ready to install, other partially welded.) are here. GN 5x5 hubs, JFZ/Wilwood brakes, Pro & Carerra coil-over’s, Mustang steering rack with Howe quickener, 9” Ford floater rear, Gold Trak diff, 4.33 gear, Trailing arm/torque arm/Watt link rear suspension, 5th coil on torque arm 8” front travel, 10”+ rear, ATL 12 gal. cell (needs minor repair), twin Carter rotary fuel pumps w/ surge tank. Auto Meter (4) gauges + tach, q/r steering wheel. Body all .04 prepainted aluminum, all graphics vinyl. 8 ea. 15 x 15 l/w steel wheels, 6ea 15 x10, 2ea. 15 x 8. Currently set up for s/b Mopar power, dry sump (tank, lines) trick shifter with Hurst mechanism. Seat is Kirkey custom for me, but mounts will work for similar. Impact 7 point belts (need recert), car will fit driver 6’7”, 300# comfortably & safely.

Pricing is somewhat negotiable, depending…. . I do not wish to break up the package, and cannot accept low-ball offers. I am willing to deal with multiple buyers, if they are willing to act together. There is some room for negotiation, i.e. Which non-Mopar items go along with the deal, possibility of accepting certain non-Mopar racing parts in partial trade, even including my unique, hand-built (“PT Cruiser”) hillclimb car.
I am not quitting racing! But many of these parts have value far beyond my use for them, and I owe family serious money. This sale will make it possible for me to return to the seat, and keep my competition honest!
• Parts package $16000, +/-
• Car $ 5000 as is (roller, no seat)
• Everything in situ at Barnstead NH Serious inquiries only, please – will take several hours to view and help to load, as I have a bum leg and can’t carry or climb. Ongoing tech support and all documentation in my possession are included.
• Also – not currently planned for sale, but if you gotta have ‘em -
• Flowmaster 3”, single chamber race mufflers, with flange connectors and turnouts
• Carburetors – both Holley 750-double pumpers, milled air horns, main bodies milled flat. 1 as new, 4-hole idle, originally set up by Ron Anderson. 1 “Magic”, air bleeds, etc modified, runs ace on any hot rod it’s ever been on. (Currently service loaner for my carb customers)
