Looking great wow!

Thanks Scamper. I can't take my eyes off of it.

Are you feeling it yet!!!

Looking great ! You have put a lot of work in the details.

OH I'm FEELING it all right! lol
Nothing like seeing the car fresh color and clear!

Yeah that car looks great!

Bill, it's been a long time getting to this point and worth the wait.
I still need to find the ignition switch cover you pointed out earlier in the thread.

I think that ignition switch bezel is a one or two year only part. But you will be able to find it they came on all the a-bodes from those years and usually they aren't cracked.

I'll keep my eyes open for one. Right now my priorities are sorting the accessories and swapping out the timing cover.

I am actually going to take off that brand new timing cover I put on the block and replace it with a 69 cover I bought from a member, it is correct and has the marks on the passenger side.

Guess I'll have a brand new 70+ SB timing cover for sale soon.

We didn't replace any metal on this side it is original metal that was cleaned and straightened

That IS nice & straight! How did the other side turn out?
I bet you can hardly sleep at night thinking about it finished. I wouldn't be able to!

Wow, that is straight!

I am smitten to say the least :)... There is a lot of work there and something to be said about taking the time.

Sleep nah there's none of that lol, I'll get some pics up of the other side soon. Just seeing the difference, where it was to what it's become, I'm speechless.

Hi Geo4K,

I Picked up the Vent hinge and Window repair kits from "Mrmoparts" but the same kits can be found from a few different Vendors (R/T specialties comes to mind)

The side glass U channel w/clips from "YearOne"

"Rock Auto " for the Vent window seals. they are the same Flocked pieces sold by "Metro supersoft"

BTW, YearOne 30% discount code is Labor4 is good through tomorrow.

Thanks Slotto!
You're welcome :) I'm glad you find it useful and I hope it helps you with your project.

Getting there...

We reviewed a few threads that went into this in great detail on pump/pulley/bracket combos and we were glad that we weren't the only folks having trouble figuring out the combos.

I think we have the bracket puzzle almost figured out. We decided to stay with the Saginaw P/S pump since most agree that it is the best performing unit but needed to figure out which brackets to use with the 69 cast iron water pump on the 340.

Wait,... there are two styles of Saginaw pumps?? Surely you can't be serious... I am serious, and don't call me Shirley. Well we now have two Saginaw pumps to choose from. One is referred to as the oval neck unit and as I understand it was used from 69-72 and the other is referred to as the box style unit and t was used from 69 - 74.

Does anyone know if both units perform equally?
If one unit is better than the other which one is it?

Here are the two Saginaw pumps for review:

The Darts really looking good AL. Your making me burn more midnight oil just to keep up.
Great Job!!!
Martin

You might want to post up in the "Suspension Steering Chassis" section about that steering box. Might have better luck getting an answer.

Very nice, Cant wait to see the finished product.

Thanks Vern! It feels good to be getting to the tipping point and and start to put things back together! I'm getting a second wind. :)

Thanks Martin! You are moving along quite well also. I really like the way the radiator hoses came out. Your car is going to be amazing. We are both building 69's but taking a different approach to the build and very cool to see them develop their personalities.

Good suggestion Bill, I'll re post it to the suspension/steering/chassis section it's likely to get more visibility there.

man oh man, I'm still chipping away here. We got very close to installing the front end, engine and transmission into the car last weekend. If it weren't for the bad timing locating the correct timing cover It would be in a done deal. But, hey not complaining (kinda) at least I found one.

Now that the correct cover found its way into my garage I'll have to swap it with the old (new) one. lol Confused? Hopefully, I can get to it this weekend.

Then, I tracked down a nice2863215 Fan with matching Viscous clutch unit (for AC). correct for my ride. Man was I stoked. Can't say for sure what's going on with my post office but the fan arrived bent (WTH! :banghead:). Do they do it on purpose?? What a drag. On the upside at least the clutch is Good. But still need a fan.

To distract myself from thinking about the fan some shifter clean up was in order and as I was finishing up the bumper Jack I purchased from a member here arrived.[IMIG]

Let's just say we are thankful for this forum. Thanks Joey and to all folks here.

The timing cover cleaned up well.

Things are progressing well and if all goes as planned I may be able to get the drive line into the car this weekend.

The only thing left to wrap up are the fenders, Hood and trunk lid.
What do you think? was the car used for target practice at a golf range or left out during a hail storm?

by the looks of the fender it's not golf course or hail
it may have been parked in a cow pasture for a couple years maybe

she's gonna be a head turner

It is done! The whole assembly (front end, engine and Transmission) installed! From underneath.
Big ups to Mark and Tom for everything. Great day and a huge milestone.
I don't know how long it's been since she's been reunited with her original parts together. Now She stands on her own feet again!
