Ok so I was on another site yesterday. I noticed a person had a hood for sale with the 72 style snorkel hood scoop. Well the scoop was off. I was only interested in the placement of the scoop on the hood. I noticed all the holes were drilled and scoop holes cut. It would be a perfect template. Well the guy wants to charge me for a temp- plate plus shipping. Not alot of money either [less than 15] I know a persons time is valuable. With that said I also know that guys on this site including myself are always willing to provide info or pictures when needed to help another person out. Heck, I have given parts away to users of this site and others. I am always willing to help where needed. I dont know but for some reason this rubbed me the wrong way. Should it?? Its not that I wouldnt be willing to pay for it [of course shipping] I just thought that being a fellow member he might have helped me. Im sure I would have returned the favor at some point. Am I being to cheap and petty? Give me your thoughts on this even if you think Im wrong. Thanks.
 
Forgot to mention its going on my 72 Demon. Any advise is appreciated.
 
I don't think your wrong. Some people just are not as giving as others. If I was stranded on the side of the road with a flat I would only hope it was you and not him that drove by. Don't take it personally.....maybe someone here has a template they could get to you.
 
I have a bare hood off a Dart sport coup... The snorkle is off and all the factory bolt holes are there... What measurements do you need..... I'm thinking costruction paper and a sharpie maybe.. Pm your needs and addy
 
Sorry but I know a persons time is valuable but he is being very Petty to charge another member for tracing a few lines on a piece of paper, that's a joke, I believe what goes around comes around, is he a chevy guy? I think it sucks for him to charge you. just my 4 cents
 
well I appreciate the comments so far. I dont think the Dart sport hood measurements will work since mine is off a 72 Demon. I appreciate the offer though.

I would have to agree, if the scoop is off, even 15-20 minutes to draw something up and post it for others would be a great gesture.... maybe having you pay a couple $$ for shipping if he is sending you a template rolled up in a tube..... if I had one, I'd draw it up for you though....
 
Pretty sure the hoods are the same, I have to say that he was being a jerk for wanting money for a ten minute job. The leason here is stay on FABO, the other sites are nowhere close in hospitality.

Sorry Poppabear but I take a little bit of offence over the Chevy guy crack. I'm a GM guy that's always been a car guy first. I just happen to be building a 65 Barracuda right now. My first Mopar ever so it's a learning curve for me. I don't tend to throw other marques under the bus. A cool car is a cool car, no matter who made it. In years past I've given away needed parts for nothing for someome that needs it and will do the same for anyone in the Mopar world if I feel right about the person. To the original question, I would never ever ask someone to pay me for that kind of info. We're here to help each other out in a common interest. Not to make money from it. I truely hope the original poster gets his answer without having to pay for it. That's just WRONG!!!

I'm pretty sure Bear was just joking around 55Redneck. I don't think any car manufacturer has the corner on the market for A-Hole owners!! I hate to say it but look right here on our site and we see some. They are few and far between but they are here, the guys that are selling known crap to other members here, guys that are taking members money and not sending parts? Unfortunately they must own Mopars as well.:angry7:

I can help you. I have one of the original 72 340 Darts that came with the single piece dual snorkel hood scoop that is currently not on, so it'd be easy to get a template happening. PM me and I'll get it done for you........

Redneck don't get unset, we joke about others all the time but we like all nice cars, (although I would not own one) they are nice to look at. There are good and bad on all sites. One more thing I am an Alabama Redneck so we have something in common, LOL
 
if none of these other guys get the info for you, I can too- my hood's off a '72 Duster. The scoop is on, but since most of the nuts holding it have been lost over the years, I can pull it off pretty quick:-D
 
sounds like you wanted to get it for nothing from the start.Everyone posts parts or services, thats why it works.If it hurt your feelings you didnt really want to pay.dont let it bother you.if you expect to pay and get it for free you feel a lot better about the other guy.my opinion,id rather give the guy 15.00 than to go around mad
 
I think that would have rubbed me the wrong way as well but, you never know what the guys current situation is. He could work 20 hours a day trying to support his family. maybe his time is that valuable to him.

but its more likely hes just greedy and selfish and wants to make a buck off you.
 
yes...I would have just traced them for you free of charge...I would have also payed for shipping...only would be a couple bucks.....i dont see a reason to charge any person to take a couple measurements, and transfer them on paper.....Id do it as a gesture of my good faith....
 
d5667 good point. Maybe I did. I guess I would have thought it wouldnt be a big deal. I do realize a persons time is valuable. IMO I also live paycheck to paycheck and I would help anyone in that manner for free. I guess thats why its IMO. But as for being mad nah it takes more than that to get me mad. I think I was just on the wrong site for advise Lol! FABO is my home.
