How do you determine what size AN fittings you need?

I've got a radiator that needs AN fittings on the hoses, but I've got no clue what size they are. See the crappy cell-phone picture below.

Do I measure the OD? The ID? What? Help!

AN sizes are easy. Each size = 1/16th of an inch, so a 6 an is 3/8 ths, 8 an is 1/2 inch, etc. :)

Measured where? Inside? Outside? At the threads?

I measured it with my caliper, it seems to be .595 of an inch. Does that make any sense?

Hold on on a sec. The girlfriend called and forgot where I left my machinist rule!

Heater hose fitting?

No, it's for a radiator. See the first post in this thread.

Thanks for the info!

My neighbor has a drawer full of fittings, I'm gonna grab some and see what fits. Trial and error is the way to go in this case I guess. ;-)

Thanks for the help!

That looks like a -10 to me and it measures the same as one. I agree with Adam though.....-10 is a little small for a Radiator fitting.

The top looks bigger to me...But it may be the lighting... Where did that radiator (like what kind of race car?) come from.

I don't remember, to tell the truth. I picked it up at a swap meet, or on eBay. It's been sitting in my garage for a couple of years... every race season I have problems with cooling my car down and I keep threatening to put that radiator in. This year I'm gonna do it!

Nope, not yet. I haven't had time to get back to it.

I was thinking about not even using that one, I really need a rad that has the outlet on the driver's side instead of the passenger's side. I got a quote on a a 19x26 unit set up how I'd need it for a good price, I may just buy a new one.

Anybody want a radiator? ;-) I think it's an AFCO, it looks just like this one, except the fittings are on the other side: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AFCO...QQihZ009QQcategoryZ107066QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
