Do you consider this a 2bbl kickdown bell crank, or a 4bbl bell crank? The upper lever is slightly offset toward the center of the car. Anyone have photos of their unmolested 2bbl or 4 bbl bell crank they can post? Are '65 and '66 exactly the same on the 4bbl version? Ooops, I guess I better post a photo of what I have!

Here's an original from my 65 Formula S Barracuda. 65'

So, is this a 2bbl one then? Seems it should be just the opposite to me since this one offsets more toward the fender than the first one, which seems more logical to me since the 4bbl. carb is wider than the 2bbl carb.

I just got looking at some of the rest of the kickdown linkage too, and it looks like maybe the '65 and earlier is different than the '66? I know the transmissions changed when they went from cable to linkage, but, I though the kickdown stuff would be the same. Maybe not. And maybe they changed the upper bell crank too? I have another photo of one that I took off a '66 2bbl. It's different than the other two I just posted! It also has a shorter leg on the part going down to the transmission, which matches the second bell crank (the dirty one) I posted. This is getting very confusing.....I'll post a few photos shortly.

Here's the next bell crank for your consideration! This black one is one I took off a '66 2bbl car.

Here's a side view. You can see that the upper arm on the black one is relatively straight compared with the curve of the other one. Also you can see the difference in length of the lower arm to the transmission.

All the ones I currently have are the same, a real short one.

Black one is exactly the same one that's on my 66. It was originally a 273 2bbl, but I switched over to the 4 BBL intake long ago. I didn't change that bracket just modified the linkage to the carb,

The 4 bbl throttle stud is about 1" - 1 1/2" farther forward than the 2 bbl linkage...

I've compared the 67 and later throttle cable brackets from 2 bbl to 4 bbl and been able to just lengthen a 2 bbl slotted kick down linkage to fit and work properly on a 4 bbl....

So it would make sense that the 4 bbl bracket lever is about 1" - 1 1/2" forward compared to the 2 bbl....

In '65 and '66 they just changed the very front threaded-on section of the rod to a longer one between 2 a 4bbl. Near as I can tell. That's the part that snaps onto the ball on the carb lever. The actual rod that goes forward from the bell crank is the same length on everything that I've seen so far.

Anyone have a photo of their '66 4bbl. upper bell crank. Still trying to figure this out. I always thought there was just two plates for the '64-6 A-bodies.....a 2bbl and a 4bbl. Since I have 3 different ones, I need to find out which is correct for each year and carb. All help is appreciated! :usflag:
