hey, i just got a gutted 69 dart and was planning on turning it into a drag car
I got it cheap so theres nothing in it. Here is my plan( very general)

Chassis
-stock frame with frame connectors and torque boxes
-alterktion front end
-spring relocation kit

Engine

-My 440 with a 440souce 500 stroker kit
-stealth heads with some port work
-1.5 rockers
-Racing cam( not sure which one yet)
-Single high rise intake with a Quick fuel alcohol carb
-Tranny is a 727 big block with a trans-brake and a B&M racing shifter.

Other

-plastic windows
-fuel cell
-8 3/4 rear end ( not sure what gears)
-M/T racing slicks
-One piece fiberglass front end

There is a whole bunch more stuff but you get it.

Any guesses on a range of E.T's? ( i know this is very general)

thanks :clock:

keep the weight down, get it to hook up and you will be into the 10 s ...maybe better depending on the horse power. i would guess if you get it close the first time right off the trailer you could run mid 11s ... sounds like a fun ride !

I'd go with a 3/4 race cam. Then you could drive on the streets part time if you wanted.

I run a dart street strip and use a comp cam roller .660 and its borderline weekend warrior with the .660 .750 one heck of a cam on the street et? depends on combo, expect a wait on the stealth heads if you dont already have them, mid to hi 10s my best guess given your info, porting the stealths would improve the timeslip as max flow is around 290 on intake side.ever thought about indys? very general indeed.

have the heads fully checked out even if they are new

I hate the stealth heads for race. look at the flow #s buy a set of victor pro comps for $100 bux more, set on ebay right now, stealth is junk, look at the huge drops in flow and compare them to the procomps that can be ported out to max wedge size, use bigger valves and can flow 350,ported. heres a few #s on the procomps stock 296 at .700 287.2 at 6000,273.6 at 500 .now, see what the stealths flow at different rpms. stealth are good street heads unported imo but the drop off is big on the lift #s ,thats my opinion on the stealths.

I take that back, given the machine work and related strengthening issues required for it to hold it together I decline to comment on this car.I also dont like the stealths for a race car, big drop in flow #s at all given lifts
