Bought a 360 chrome oil pan off ebay,was supposed to be for a car 360,however the pan will not fit at back of engine.It is to small to fully set down on the block.It hits the rear seal long before it mates to the block.Shows to be about 1/4 inch to small.Is this a pan for a 318/340? I need to know before I contact the seller. Thanks! :glasses6:

Yes its a 273,318 and 340 pan. They use a smaller rear main dia cap.

If the oil pan requires 2 different end seals, it is a 360 oil pan. The 318-340 have the same pan end seals.

I'm pretty sure something's up. With a 360, you will need the smaller rear main cap oil pan. What does the block have cast into the driver's side of the block, just above where the starter is?
