I am questing for a rear sway bar for my '74 Duster, I am going to be running a 440 and a 8-3/4... yadda yadda yadda... I am going to plan on running it mostly on the street and driving it to work (lots of curvy black top back roads :burnout: ) so I want a good reliable set up (sway bar setup)...

What sway bar are you running in the rear?
What Diameter?
Is the FirmFeel aar type bar worth the money?
Should I just get a Hel-wig, Addco, PST or another brand?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you have a stock stock rear suspension and plan on using a stock bar,the normal rule is a bar of 60-70% of the one used in the front. Now if you plan on a aftermarket bar,you can go wild and get ome really thick bars and have it running on rails, mrmopartech

I picked up a front sway bar a while back, I believe it is a 1". I have completly rebuilt the suspension with Poly bushings, welded the K-frame, re-enforced the lower control arms, swapped to bigger torsion bars. On the rear I have built up an 8-3/4, its sitting on 5 Leaf XHD springs (I believe they are 3" over arched - Cant remember right now). So if you consider stock still using leaf springs instead of a 4 link or ladder bars then yes its all stock...

the normal rule is a bar of 60-70% of the one used in the front.
I am going to have to write that down so I don't forget that. Thanks! :)

The Firm Feel type rear sway app (a-la AAR Cuda) is the way to go. Most of the aftermarket bars I am aware of are using unsprung mounts, not the frame-hung type. If you have decent welding and fabbing skils you can adapt a more common (i.e. cheaper) bar into a frame-hung mount like this:

This was an early spin pic and the mount ended up being raised further up on the frame and the floor had to be clearanced a few inches for full suspension travel. But you get the idea.

I have a decent skill at fabbing, nothing spectacular but... I know enough to be dangerous. What kind of "cheaper" bar are you refering too?

Also thats a good idea, I appreciate the picture!

That's an Addco 1" bar in the pic. I think I paid around $100 for it. What's the FF rear kit, like $300 or something?

Yeah, its ridiculously expensive!

It may be expensive but you get what you pay for. I ordered Addco's front kit for my 69 Swinger and it was cheap but it was also cheaply, poorly made and didn't fit well. I sent the Addco kit back to Summit and I replaced it with a Firm Feel kit that's double the price but the kit is also double the quality. It doesn't use cheap L-brackets like the Addco. IMO Firm Feel is the way to go it's a much better engineered kit.
