Anybody have a link for a good antivirus program?I downloaded AVG antivirus i don't know what the hell was screwed up with that but after i downloaded it and ran it everything froze :!: Wouldn't do anything so i shut down and started it back up and was only on my desktop for a few seconds and it rebooted itself :!: It did this like 3 times until i uninstalled the program now it seems to be working fine again. So watcha got :?:

AVG works well for me but you do have to make sure you in-install any other programs you may have ot there will be a conflict. I have 2 running and they work well as long as I don't let AVG integrate with outlook.

I use Norton Antivirus & Internet security. It came with my system too, but since it wasn't causing any problems and was obviously working, I bought a years service. I am hooked up to a wireless set-up and want to make sure nobody gets into my system.

Trust me when I say you want to stay away from Norton products if possible. If you want to pay for a product that you can get for free and want it to keep the bad guys out use McAfee much better with a lot less holes in it. It can be a pig system resources wise but not as bad as Norton.

Actually this is the first computer i've had that doesn't have problems w/ Norton. I've had 5 new home computers and around 10 new ones at work, and everyone that I've had Norton on before had something that wouldn't run because of norton. There are times that I have to disable it to up or download something, but for now it's working quite well. I have enough memory that hogging a little bit isn't a problem, yet.

I got a free copy of PcCillen by Trend Micro on a mothorboard driver disc. Its been updated every week and never given any problems. I repair systems on the side as a hobby and have removed virus and cleaned drives with my system many times. PcCillin and Spybot search and destroy and regcleaner to get rid of things that are hard to uninstall or clear off your system. I'm cheap and free is good but only if the quality of the program is there and these are top notch. I hate Norton, and many of the systems I repair have at least a version of Norton antivirus on them, usually out of date and wont uninstall. If the whole utility package is installed I call it fully corrupted.

Yea I used to have my own business repairing computers. I would say prolly 80% of the problems with norton could be corected if people would keep the engine and definitions uptodate. Norton doesn't make this easy by making people having to pay for new releases to stay current every year.
