My grand daughter’s dog has started peeing Uncontrollably since the cold weather came. Does anybody have any idea that may be going on. I’m thinking possibly he has an infection of some kind. He is a Heinz 57 and is 14 years old. I’m gonna see if I can get a vet appointment tomorrow. Thanks in advance Kim
Meet Simon.

Could be a bladder infection, or something else, maybe just age related.
I'm not a vet, but have had lots of dogs in my life.
Agreed. Had more than my share of old dogs (the best kind, IMO), and loss of bladder control makes me think UTI of some sort.

Cute dog, and best of luck to him!

Got something going on with his urinary tract for sure. We get the doc to prescribe Baytril and that usually clears it up. That's in cats, though, but I think it works for dogs, too. Just ask um.

I had this issue with a good size dog. I put down puppy training pads and she used them - better than just peeing on the floor - until the problem was solved.

Trying to send you a PM and caint. Says you limit who can see your profile. Fix it please.

There is also a condition called "Cushing". They have enormous appetites, drink lots of water and can't hold their urine !
Hope it's not that!

Yes, one of my dogs had Cushing's disease, we had her on medication for a few years before she could no longer control her body functions and had to say goodbye to her.

It’s not Cushing’s disease then. His pee is getting more orange now than yellow. He can see the vet at 3:30 today.
At 14 years of age I doubt it would be Cushing's, but it could certainly be kidney failure. I hope it isn't, but please keep us posted.

It is with great sadness I have to report that we had to send Simon to doggy heaven. He had a mass in his bladder and something with his spleen. We all agreed that it was time to say good bye to Simon. He wasn’t suffering yet but was weak and stopped eating. We are all devastated. Rest in peace Simon 24/12/24. Kim

Kim, I am so sorry for your loss. We have had 7 miniature dachshunds (6 and 7 are with us now at 13.5 years of age). I understand completely how dogs steal your heart. I wish I could say something that would make you feel better. Just remember the good times and the amazing love he had for you.

I am truly saddened at this news. There is never a time when it's easier to say goodbye to our fur kids, but it is so much more difficult during the holidays.
Cherish the moments when he made you smile or laugh and he will always be part of your life.

R.I.P. Simon
