I have three cars with their original radios & they all work, but I do not use them.

I'd rather listen to the engine, but we are all different.

I have no advice for you. Mine came with an typical "modern" aftermarket JVC/ Kenwood/ similar with a USB connection, and I just use the USB. If you don't like the looks you could hide it in the glove box I guess. I'm with AK....most of the time I just want to hear the V8

I have issues with mine which is about 3 years old.

It's my exhaust is too damn loud to hear the radio so its normally off so I can hear the engine noises

I heard the same thing about those radios.
at $400 or more each, no thanks.
I bought a blue tooth mini amp, mounted it under the package tray between the speakers.
I paired my iPhone to it and listen to music that way.
Works great at a fraction of the cost.

I have not done it yet, but the guy who owns a local car stereo shop (really cool guy and very knowledgeable) said he could mount a tuner and Bluetooth amplifier under a seat with a remote to change radio stations. Then I could play other music via blue tooth. All or about $500 (including speakers).

Its randomly cutting out, like its losing power, sometimes it will cut out and come right back on, other times it will turn off and i will have to manually press the knob to turn it back on. All of the retrosound radios ive had has done this

Here’s a picture of my super heterodyne stereo set up with cassette and equalizer. None of it works, including the car radio, left it alone. I like the look and it doesn’t rattle driving down the road, I just enjoy listening to car motor, never been a problem. When I stop and park, iPhone and Bluetooth speakers for my listening enjoyment.

I claim the ultimate solution for a rally dash. I can poke whatever single D.I.N. head unit in it.
The custom support plate for climate controller and stereo, along with a customized and re chromed OEM bezel did cost more than the aftermarket alternatives.
Best part... Inst' panel a heck of a lot easier to R&R if/when I need to.
Back to your issue... Modern electronics do need a stable full 12 volt supply and chassis ground. If it goes off at idle, headlights on, maybe low voltage is the root cause.

I've heard nothing but bad about RetroSound. Email them the multiple links/threads/lousy reviews from here. Maybe they will actually take constructive criticism and do something.

                        Retrosound:
We are sorry the radios seem to have issues. To have two radios do the same thing is extremely rare. It seems more like there is an issues in the vehicle and wiring. For the radio to lose power would mean there is a voltage issue in the vehicle or something in the wiring.

                        me:
The radio will cut out and come back on, often it will turn off on its own and i have to manually press the knob to turn it back on. The radios only seem to last about 1-1/2 years before they start having this issue.

                        retrosound:
This is not an issue our radios have. It would be more likely there is something in the wiring in your car. If it was one I could thing maybe a bad unit. Two with the same issue. It is your car.

(Really? Your radios are immune to internal issues? With a circuit board)

                        me:
The wiring is correct. Everytime the radios last about 1-1/2 to 2 years with no issues and then they start doing what i stated. Thats fine i can see how customer driven this company is, so quick to assume its the vehicle when i know its not. Radio has been working fine for almost 2 years and no issues, now all of the sudden its acting up and its my car? Cmon. The first radio was warrantied because of a internal issue where it was doing the same thing. The second radio couldnt be warrantied because you discontinued it. Then i had to buy this one and low and behold it gets close to the 2 year warranty period and it starts acting up.

                        Still waiting on their response

Retrosound has horrible customer service. You can read about my nightmares with them on another post but now, after a couple years I've forgotten most of it. One thing I cannot get over is the incredibly complicated programming you have to do every time you lose power to the unit. This thing has ten thousand features, like a display that can glow in any color of the rainbow and a clock that takes a NASA engineer to set. Oh, how I wish I'd have just sent my stock radio to one of the guys who puts bluetooth into it. If you haven't bought a Retrosound yet, don't!

I love my retrosound radio. I used it daily for a couple years when I daily drove my 70 dart with a slant. I havent had a single issue with it.

I dont daily drive it anymore but my dad does a few weeks out of the year. He loves the Bluetooth feature on it. He drives my car more than I do!

I've never heard anything really good about the RetroSound stuff. My own experiences with their speakers was that they failed after a year or two.

I have had two radios converted by this guy: Aurora FMR Stereo Conversion and I'm really happy with the results. Not cheap, but not all that crazy, with great quality and fantastic customer service. The radios look bone stock, but perform like a modern stereo.

My radio does the same thing. It will cut off then take varying lengths of time to turn back on.

i havent noticed it do it anymore. I did have a battery cut off switch go bad on me, not sure if it was intermittently breaking contact and causing my issue but since replacing the switch i havent noticed it

i cant fully recommend them, way overpriced for what you get even my first one only lasted 2 years. Im on my third now. If i were to do it again i would of just spent $200 on a nice alpine or pioneer headunit and mounted it either in the glovebox or just mounted it in the dash
