:blob:i know there are alot of guys with 10 second stroker combos but is there any one with non stroker motors?

got a 71 Dart 360....has gone 10.996 in Vegas with correct air at 4000 ft...

got a 69 Barracuda 360 W2 heads that has gone 10.69 in Vegas...

There were people in the 10's long before the strokers became popular. And just because you have a stroker doesn't gaurantee you 10's.

hoping to get there with my stockstroke edelbrock headed 340 in a 3185lbs 73 duster streetcar with full interior on pumpfuel:) dont think it will be all that hard if i can just get the stock suspension to hook fairly well.

Getting in the 10s takes means chassis efficiency ,5300 + converter ,or 4 speed, something to get the 60 ft. in the 1.45 range with the 340. It can be done
our duster 340 6.82 1/8 mile = 10.8s 1/4 mile

My brothers stock stroke 340 on pump gas with factory iron heads has gone 9.78 @ 132.08. So can it be done? YES and others did long before him. I think this was early on when he made his first 9 sec. pass.

Its the extra CI from the extra stroke that can give better HP numbers. If you could punch the 340 out to give 400 CI with the same stroke, 3.31, it likely be eating up the strokers.

All the extra stroke is more pushing on the walls vs the crank and the shorter pistons don't seal as well.

As for more torque, that what gears are for. Run a 4.88 plus gear and rev the 340 up, it can rev higher safer then any 4 inch stroke engine can.

The weight of the car plays a large role, get it in under 3,000 lbs and hang on

I'm wondering what type of HP & TQ can get you into the 11's with a 3000lb car? I'm now running around 480 HP and 500 TQ w/3800 stall and 3.55's.

Get 4.10 gears or 4.30's if its a 340 engine, that is whats holding it back. Lock the timing out to 32-34 degrees--32 might be best, too much timing
can hurt et's

Single plane intake, a 850 DP and 4.56 gears will get the best et's out of a 340. Headers the bigger the better. The carb might even et best with those domantars, 1000 cfm's

But now you got a strip only car

Well yeah. What do you think them pro stock boys were runnin before strokers? lol

That should run EASY 11's now! Likely not low 11's but in the mid high area. It would be lazy off the line, but, pull really good. Great MPH for the ET. Like 11.60 at 120. If it doesn't MPH at least 120, something is wrong.

480hp and 3000# is 10 second car with good chassis/suspension/gear/converter

im curious as to what my car would run. its winter and itll be awhile before i get to run it this summer

its a 72 duster, heat, a/c, carpet, rear seat and wiper assembly removed, 12 gal fuel cell.

360, stock stroke and bore, ported heads, 1.88 valves, flowtech headers, 2 1/4 exhaust , flowmaster supper 44s. proform HEI distributor

erson cam, 488lift 292 duration im pretty sure

victor single plane, holley 650dp

8.25, 3.55s, auburn locker and direct connection super comp leaves, 235 70 r 14 tires out back.

727, shift kit, 2400 stall.

i dont have a clue what it would run, im planning on 4.10s in the next month and bigger tires. ill mainly be running in the 1/8th mile since thats whats closest to me. either way itll probably be slow lol

its stock low comp. probably 8 something. i built the bottom end in highschool and was a bit on the broke side. im guessing mid 14? maybe mid 9s in the 1/8th?

it feels pretty quick on the street. in a few years ill build the 440 i got sitting in the garage :burnout:
