Guess I could send mine out of our Gen2 Bcuda Restomod project to be chromed, but in its current state it's looking pretty bland in this engine bay that is soon to also have a new chromed alternator installed. Anyone have a recommendation/source, as I haven't found much out on the internet?

Those look bland no matter what, because they are. I would put the early factory finned cover on it. They look nice.

There's a member here who has one I think from an Australian company that's a copy of the Mopar Performance black crinkle finned aluminum cover. I think it's @vitamindart

Forget about that last one listed. It is junk. No baffles, and poor chrome plating. In a year it will be rusty

Take Your's, scuffy-pad it & wipe it down with wax & grease remover, then hit it with VHT Black Crinkle paint. While You're enjoying the new coolness of Your engine compartment, You can save up for an Aussiespeed piece of art, .......

SO I've seen all of these and agree with everyone's comments. The on on eBay looks like it's poor quality and has no PCV port.
The Offenhauser looks great, but not wild about the branding on it and again there is not PCV port.
Love the Aussiespeed, but they are really proud of that (eg. $$$$) .... Looks like I've gotta budget for that one. BUT ... Anyone have thoughts/concern experience over it not having baffles?

It's not just pride, that's a very well made cover, i.e. won't crack/no leaks. The cast-in chamber/nozzle 'baffle' system I have no experience with, but properly placed, probably every bit as effective as any other.

I got this online a while back, don't remember the source:

The Offy valve cover has no provisions for PCV. None. It was designed in early '61 when PCV did not exist, and has not been changed since that time. I've been on the phone a few times to Tay Offenhauser trying to gently push him in the direction of reworking the cover for easy compatibility with all slant-6s made between '60 and '80, not just the first two years' worth of production. Thanks for the reminder to call him again (though he didn't seem all that interested in making any changes).

There are no internal baffles, which is a problem, 'cause it means even if you drill your 1" hole and put in a grommet with a PCV valve, you're going to be sucking splashed oil into the intake tract via the PCV valve.

Unless/until Offenhauser updates the part, the best way to install PCV is to obtain a Stant 10078 (old # SO-78 ) or AC-Delco 12C26 breather cap:

Drill the Offy cover at the rear to accept the grommet for this capthat'll be another item to buy; it's a Dorman #42344 (breather grommet for 1970-1995 Chrysler products)and push the cap into the cover. This cap has an internal filter and a 1" top hole, so just snap a standard Chrysler PCV valve grommet (such as Dorman # 42064) into the top hole and pop a standard Chrysler PCV valve into the grommet, and you're all set.

But I just run mine without the pcv. Seems to work OK. I'm not sure I understand how the pcv/oil breather system can work when they are both on the same side of the motor, but I admit there are a lot of things I don't understand (like how did I get so damned old so quick).

Ask @TF360 if he still has this one for sale, as he was the purchaser and took delivery of it.

Last heard it was a $250 item as it was special.

Are they even casting anything at all anymore?

My understanding was the last runs of the Offy covers were terrible, not flat & leaked, the flanges weren't very thick & prone to cracking.....which eliminated milling them flat as a solution.

I got my Offy slant six valve cover in November 2011. Excellent quality. But that was more than 13 years ago.

Are they still available today? Is the quality any good? Don't know, can't say.

Offy kept making all their vintage stuff for many, many, years, but people get old, they die, their families aren't interested in the family business, and so even the best, longest lived companies can change hands, and there a many things that used to be really good that are garbage today.
