I recently picked up a new set of Edelbrock magnum style heads and a camshaft and I am trying to figure out what type of shortblock to build.I have a couple of sets of the Kieth Black 107 style pistons which is a flat top with valve reliefs and I was wondering if anyone had run a magnum style motor with these pistons. I know the Edelbrocks have a 58 cc combustion chamber and I was wondering how much compression this combo might have. This setup will be used with a Performer RPM airgap intake and carb so I don't have to worry about the computors restrictions to make it run.
I also have a set of the KB 356 pistons with a dish top and quench dome but they would require that I buy another 4 inch crank. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I'd just use a compression calculator online. Input your specs such as head CC, gasket compressed thickness, piston to deck clearance etc. Should give you a good idea.

Remember to use the Magnum's deck height when you figure compression as the Magnum has a shorter deck height than the LA.
