Can anydody with a 73 up Dart Sport take this bolt out and send me a good pic of it so I can see what I need. Better yet do anyone with a 73 Dart Sport have an extra bolt. This bolt goes in the piece that the latch that opens the hood is at. When we got this car it was in pieces and it seems like this bolt is different. A regular bolt in here allows the mechanism to move some. need help.

should look similar to a fender bolt, with the washer under it
 
so what you are saying is if I get a washer the size of the hole and drop it in and bring it flush and use a bolt it should keep it from moving and still allow it to rotate.
 
I had a Duh moment. Here is a couple of pics. The bolt has a shoulder on it with a spring type washer. 3/4" head on the bolt.

If you could find a washer of some sort the would fit in the hole but still keep the bolt from clamping tight on the sheet metal it might work.

i kept thinking they were just a 7/16 inner fender shouldered washer/bolt

What makes it worse is I went out twice to look at it, it wasn't until the third time I had the palm to forehead thing.
 
Bad sport, would you happen to have one of these bolts. Or would anybody else have one of them. I would greatly appreciate it.
 
did you get one yet? I could give you mine but than I couldn't open my hood. you could use a longer bolt with the washers and whwn its tightened just right put a cinch nut on the bottom and lock it. If not let me know and I'll give you mine. what else do you need My doaner car is a 73 dart sport with a lot of good parts still left on it Jim

PM dpmalibu on here, he has been parting out a 74 Sport. The one pictured I took out of mine, I don't think I have one but I will look tomorrow.
 
Sore wrist , I havent found one yet. I will take you up on the offer of the bolt. If you are sure you want to give it to me, I will take it. I will need some other parts from your donor car also. I will prolly need a good hood the way it looks. I think he needs a heater box but dont know if it is a/c or not. I know he isnt going back with a/c. maybe some other things will let you know as we go.
 
I have a 74 Dart Sport I am parting out. I will check and see if the bolt is there. It will be a day or two I have the car stored at my dads.
