Im kicking around the idea of building my 318 I know it would be easy enough to build a 408 stroker . Im just looking at the money factor to put out for the 408 and I kmow that the two are apples to oranges

i have lots of time.the dart i have now came with a souped up 318.it had a way to big of cam for the stall converter that was in it. i ran a bunch of 14 flat 1/4 mile times and that with in a 3300 pound A-body through 3 inch exhaust. i think with a better converter it wouod of ran in the 13 in the 1/4. ok with that said how fast do you want to go and how much do you have to spend?? mopar65
yes 318 will need gear and rpm, my super stock 318 runs 10.22 in the 1\4 at 128.50 weight 3190, 9 to one compression. 60ft. time 1.34
yes, its a gt\ia 89 dodge daytona i run div.4
Low compression 318 will wake up with a simple bolt on..... A blower.
You need a set of good heads flowing in the 270 cfm and up range.
I have a freind that runs a scamp with a 318 and 308 heads flowing big numbers.
Trans brake 904 -- 5000 stall -- 2700 lbs with him in it.
488 gears with a 28 or 29 inch tall tire i think.
He runs 10.70's--------
He just changed the cam.
Before this cam he was going high tens / low elevens with the .557 purple shaft cam.
He shifts at 7500/7500 and goes threw the traps at 7600 to 7800 rpm.
I have always liked the idea of going fast with a 318,but it won't be cheap.
