Another /6 car going to a v8 and Im just wondering if im forgetting anything!!
My car is a 1973 dart sport, /6, 3 speed column shift, manual brakes, manual steering. I have been gathering the parts to turn it into a v8 car ( small 408 ) with a 4 speed. Ill list everything i have so far and i was wondering if there is anything you guys can see what i might need.

I HAVE:
- the 408
-motor mounts
-rad
- 833 is on order
-have a 8 3/4
- floor hump is in

I know that i need brakes, drive shaft, torsion bars, springs but is there anything else??? Does any wiring have to be changed? will the rear trans cross member work?

Exhaust?

Correct shifter?

fan shroud/ fan / fan spacer?

Pulley setup?

Rear crossmember is fine, wiring is the least of your worries. Might have to shorten, splice, here and there.

some of your wiring will be too long, but that's easy to shorten...solder and use shrink tube.
... battery cable?

Correct trans yoke, same as 727, small or large u-joints for the yoke and rear, clutch, pp, throwout bearing, bell housing and inspection cover, carpet, shifter boot, clutch linkage, clutch fork, and possible the correct z-bar.

Just curious on the status of the trans that is on order. Rebuilt by whom? Lots o guys by so called rebuilt units only to find issues after the install.

Hey thanks guys! the transmission is coming from brewers is that ok?? I have the clutch, pp, bearing, bell housing and all of that stuff to. I only have the z-bar that was for the 3 speed! thanks i didnt think about that. I also have pulley's and the correct shifter. Sounds like im on the home stretch! thanks again, i just wanted to make sure there isnt anything im forgetting

I did this same swap. I left the slant six torsion bars in place. Great for drag racing, bad for road racing. Just depends on what you want to do with the car.

did you have to change the z-bar 85glht?

My car was an auto with the /6. I bought an A body z bar at Carlisle. It was for a /6 car. They a just a little longer. I cut mine to fit. Works great.

Are you going with Schumacker motor mounts? If not a K-member change is in order. Also if it's not a disc brake car are you going to convert it? You seem to be doing the same thing I did with my Duster. Good Luck with the build.
