Hi All,

I have a 66 and I'm noticing while parts shopping, mainly for exhaust kits, That most vendors list 66-72 together.

Why is this? Was there a mid year change in 66?

It depends on the part. '66 started linkage shift transmissions, disc brakes option, 8 3/4 option, slip yoke transmissions, the later version of V8 intakes and heads, etc. That being said, some manufacturers are not Mopar fluent and make mistakes.

The difference in exhaust will be painfully obvious if you just go by the blanket 66-72, it will be all 67 and up and will not fit a 66, especially in V8 applications. Wait until you try to find headers for a 66 and earlier V8. Your best bet is to make a thread here with your year, model, engine and trans combo, and let those here guide you to the best system for your needs.

No mid-year change, just ignorance on the seller's part.
There's always the running year-to-year changes, but the architecture of the '66 is purely early A, not to be lumped in with the '67 and up models.

It depends on the part
…is the correct answer to this question.

Depending on what parts we're talking about, the grouping could be '60-'65, '60-'66, '60-'72, '62-'66, '63-'66, '64-'66, '62-'72, '65-'72, '66-'72, '60-'76, '73-'76, '74-'76, '75-'76, and a whole bunch of one-year-onlies. Within all those, it could be all A-bodies, all Darts but not Valiants, all Darts except wagons, all Valiants plus Dart wagons, etc.
