Hi
i have a Chrysler Valiant V200 4 door.
And i would like to make the breakes a bit safer E.g mount discs in the front and also use a break servo (as in the challenger ...the small one.) And maybe rebuild the darn thing to use two circuts (i was thinking of taking one from Volvo). Any ideas?
Btw i got http://www.toyadz.com/toyadz/revell/slantsix.html on Ebay :))) (and it's not for sale)

//Cheers from the grimm north

Was going to suggest grabbing the system out of any 67 & later A-body, but that might not be as easy to do in your part of the frozen north as opposed to the one on this side of the Atlantic. You'll need the master cylinder, distribution block, and the front steel lines. The rear brakes are on a single hydraulic circuit.

The American system is much simpler than the dual diagonal systems used by Volvo or Saab. However, the brake performance decrease on the American system when the system is compromised in not as good as the Volvo system.

67 & later used a dual reservoir master cylinder and have the ability to isolate failed brakes. 73 & later A-body disks have a 4½ inch bolt pattern while the drum brake cars use 4 inch bolt pattern wheels all around. The 73 and later use a floating single piston caliper on each wheel.

The 72 & earlier disk brakes have a 4 inch bolt pattern hub. These were made by Kelsey Hayes and have a 4-piston fixed caliper. These were first offered on the A-body in 1965. For the first two years they were operated by a single piston master cylinder. 67-72 models used the dual piston/reservoir master cylinder.

Hope the information helps. Good hunting.
