I have a friend who regularly get shipments of parts from Australia and I told him about needing drop spindles and he said Covington rod shop has them for the Valiant and he is a dealer for their stuff here in the states. If we pull a few set's together he can get them shipped in one of his orders and we can save on tax and duties. I need to order 4-5 sets in order to get a good deal so if you are interested let me know these are $259.00 AU so I did the conversion and that equated to $240 usd. Shipping depends on the order.

Could be wrong but something in the back of my head says these are not the same as what came on the US Valiant. Just in case, might check into it.

They are a body spindles I spoke with the owner of the shop the valiant is a dart in australia

No argument, could be thinking of something else, just thought I would post it just in case.

Small bearing (small bolt pattern) or large bearing (large bolt pattern) ?

Are you sure those take the same lower ball joint as our A-bodies do here. I know they come with different disk brakes.

OZHemi, Jeff, deals with lot of Aussie parts and I think he may know the differences. He ships back and forth constantly to Austrailia.

I think you may need to use PBR/Girlock brake assemblies with the drop spindles, since being made for Aussie stuff.

What's the Moog part number for the Upper and Lower ball joints. The upper "looks" like the small type. But just a visual. The spindle looks like a drum brake spindle. Wierd stuff.

Aussie Charger....

The ball joints are the same boys, the headache ya guna have is
U.S rotors and calipers may not fit.
I cant say if they fit myself as Iv never messed with U.S brakes before,
ask Jeff at ozhemi he should be able to tell you. good luck

The general part number for the uppers is BJ18 and the lowers are BJ35 & BJ36.....still remember them in my head.
They are definately not drum brake type spindles.

Got am update from the guy over in Australia Guess the price went up too.

Pasted from my email

Hi John,
I have made some enquiries for you about your Plymouth Scamp. Apparently
there is only one difference between your model and the Australian Valiant
and that is that the top balljoint in yours is bigger. This means our
stubs will fit by doing one of three things after you get the axles.
1. Fit an Australian Valiant top wishbone.
2. Ream the top balljoint taper in our axles to suit the larger balljoint
in your wishbone.
3. The guy I spoke with who has done this swap has a tapered reamer and a
depth gauge and could do the reaming (the price would depend on the amount
being done).

The cost of the axles is $A637.00 a pair, they are quite expensive but
products made in this country have to be of a much higher standard than in
the States where almost anything goes and they can fit up Chinese made cast
iron stubs and no-one worries or checks, ours are unbreakable, heat treated
4140 cast in the lost wax process for a perfect product. If you want a
quantity of these axles let me know numbers and I will endeavour to get a
price for reaming, I would also need an address here in Australia to get you
a shipping quote, alternatively you could get them reamed at your end, let
me know what you think.
Regards Rod

yeah I know I just don't like giving those guys money

Well at least there are options. Probably just cheaper for the Aussie guys. By the time they bought from the US and all the shipping/ import fees/ duty that they would normally have to pay. Adds up quick for them.

So what about the brakes? Do they at least use the same wheel bearings as the US spindles?

Ok guys I've found 72 and later B body 2" drop spindles for $249.00 if I order 5 sets so if you guys are interested pm me. This picture is all they have and it's a file photo of the stock one's they used to build theirs.

You mean 73-76 E and A body type? I'm pretty sure there is only only 2" drop spindle being made for these cars. Magnumforce doesn't make them themselves.

The 73-76 B body type are a little taller and also has the larger inner bearing to take the common 10.75 and 11.75 rotors.

The 70-72 B/E body spindles take a special rotor with smaller inner bearing that is like a $100+ rotors.

Here is a pic of aussie disc brakes from 1966....this particular style were used on VC and VE Valiants (they differ slightly from VF & early VG). They use a PBR caliper of the twin opposed piston type, made from cast iron....and a solid type disc rotor.....and it is the small wheel stud pattern.
I hope this helps a little for those looking into disc brake conversion for early A bodies.
