do any of you know where I could find the small black strip that slides when you change gears to cover the open hole. It looks like it could be fabricated if I could find the right thickness plastic. any help would be appreciated.

LOL that piece is available repoped . I've seen it... 20 bucks maybe.
Anyway, I have a 100+ cd binder (Mainstay from Wamart) That has a black vynil 1st page. Worked perfect.
Here's a tip the hole in it isn't round. It needs to be oval shaped.0

Have also made a couple of these shift slides out of a black plastic divider sheet from a 3-ring binder.

PM me an address and I'll send you one if you'd like. Not exact but does the job and the price is right. ;)
