Hey guys ive been looking around for a 340 block and i have found a couple but im not really sure if its a good price or not. One is bored over 60 so i dont want that one but i have found another that has a fresh .020 over bore (4.060 bore) that was done ten years ago and the block just sat with wheel bearing grease in the cylinder walls. He said its painted black (also done ten years ago) said there was no rust on the block. Hes asking 550 for it which i thought was a little high but not really sure what the going rate for them is. Also has new cam bearings and freeze plugs installed (also ten years ago).

If it was sonic and pressure tested, that's a good price.

I know of 2 blocks for sale locally for $300ea. One is standard bore, The other was just bored .30"

prices are all over the map right now.
just make sure you buy quality...i.e. properly bored etc

Yeah the fact that the boring was done 10 years ago is kind on what concerns me. These motors are hard to find i have noticed lol. Was considering a 360 block but the 360 blocks are weaker correct? (not as much meat in between cylinder walls?)

incorrect. 340s actually have a bigger bore. 360 get there extra cubes from a longer stroke. The 360 will have a lower torque peak then a 340 will

Ive been trying to sell my 340 block .040 over on craigslist for a while now @ $275. All I get are jokers wasting my time. Guys calling me telling me they want it, but then they are a no show. Has happened a few times. I haven't met a decent person on Craigslist yet for anything I've sold. Right now I see it becoming a coffee table in the future.

360 blocks you can obtain for 100 buck you cant beat it. take the money you saved and stroke it.
