Well I been doing a lot of measuring and such playing with the idea of putting b body rear and disc brakes on dad's 67 barracuda fastback.I had gotten him some magnum 500 road wheels and cap's trim ring's lug nut's etc.well The tires I ordered came in on my birthday so I figured what a way to goof off and decided that would be my fun time project for the day.so knowing that the disk setup would move the front wheels out about an inch and the big bolt a body 7 1/4 axels have been ever elusive to me I decided to rob the wheel adaptors from my 64 dart convertable so I could "hook dad up" after installing the rear wheel adaptors and using two builders squares to help with the measuring I came up with 59 1/2 inches so now it was time to bolt on the wheels with 225 70 cooper cobra's to see I f I had enough clearance(fingers crossed as I let the jack down) any way they fit with a lil' extra clearance without any cutting of the wheel lip's Hooray!!! :cheers:so next project is to move spring perches for the b body rear to install later and gather lower ball joints, upper control ar's for the project and build him a new driveshaft for now with 215 70 14's on the front and the 225 70'14's on the rear everything fits so It's a go!!!!

It's my understanding you can bolt in a '66-'67 B-body rear without moving the perches as they are narrower than the '68 and newer ones. Seems like the perches are about an inch further apart total but you can pull the springs out by hand the half inch or so on each side and just bolt them up.
Some will argue this is bad but others have done this on cars they drove and raced without any ill effects.
Just a thought,

the rear I have for dad's car is a 64-67 and measures 59 1/2 inches from wheel flange to wheel flange.although I could pry apart the springs to meet up with the perches in their current location I'll be moving the perches to be where they should be,why have the springs in a bind???pop's wont be racin it but i'm sure he'll appreciate the job done well. the 68 to 70 rear for b bodies is 60 1/8" and would probably rub the wheel lip's is why I bought the earlier rear and it had a powerlok in it to boot(pop's wont be needin that either)

I appreciate it,I don't mind moving the perches and re welding them back in the right place.gives me something to do,I just did the ones for redhot's new project, took about an hour, now his big tires dont rub the springs

I would weld the locater holes closed and redrill before I would move the perches for a half inch.
