The cable on my star shifter was way to long just loped it around and it works fine.

buy a shorter cable would be the best solution. although looping it will work, it might cause it to bind up slighty and not move as smoothly as it should.

i have a brand new 3 ft cable if you are interested. It has been installed but was too short. Here is what the ends are like on it.

You can also try Imperial Services. They make all kinds of replacement and custom cables made to order.
