i am going to be installing b&m shifter and want to keep add a little xtra precaution to keep cable from melting, is there anything i can wrap it with to help i was even thinking of using the flexible electrical conduit from hardware store, i have headers and sure dont want to keep replacing cable, also never installed b&m shifter before are they difficult? thanks

I bought this stuff at my local parts store. (Part #14005). It fit the cable perfectly. Haven't tested it yet. I'll be routing the cable over to the passenger site of the trans, under the bellhousing, and to the bracket.

Also bought a 1" grommet for the hole in the trans tunnel for the cable to pass through. The ID of the grommet is 3/4".

And finally, I mounted the shifter slightly left of center on the trans tunnel. The trans tunnel is offset. If I had mounted it in the center, the shifter would be closer to the passenger seat than the driver. Could have mounted it dead center, but that would be too easy :) It's just about where a factory shifter would pop through the floor.

was it sae 4 7/16 or 3ft 1/4" -1/2'' and which parts store did you get it from or did you get it from the website? also what size hole did you drill to use that size grommet thanks

It was the 3' piece with 1/4" to 1/2" diameter range. Got it at a non-chain auto parts store. AutoZone or Schucks/Krager might have it. You can also order from Summit.

I used a step drill to get the hole in the tunnel to 3/4", then a die grinder to open it up to 1". The grommet (which I found in the electrical section at Lowe's) is designed for a 1" hole. The middle hole is 3/4".

Take a piece of reinforced fuel line (5/8 I believe) slit it lengthwise with a razorblade and pop it on the cable. A couple of zipties at various intervals keeps it secure. Smoked two cables in ten days, the third one has been on there ten years. RICK
