Told i may need a new balancer for my 340 anything i need to know or is there just one standaed design for the 340'
balancer

What year 340 do you have. May be a external balance if it's late 72-73 IIRC?

Early ones will have TDC on pass. side, later will be on driver side.
Not sure on transition year.

car is 72 not sure of motor timing on drivers side.

72' will be on the drivers side. Are you sure it's the original engine? When you take the lower pulley off, external balanced 340's will have stamped on the front of the balancer "for cast crank only". If you could give us a picture, that may help. I'm curious why you were told you need a new balancer, was there a particular problem?

Get an ATI,you can get cheaper ones but the keyword is cheap:hello2:
just make sure it takes you stock crank pulley and lines up with your existing water pump and alternator pulley....

I have a new stock one for cheap if you want. It's for internal balance forged crank. PM me if you want it.
